A screen shows the front and back as separate views. A printer puts them on the same physical sheet. The back positions therefore need to reflect across the edge you turn, while each card keeps its ID.
Long edge: turn like a book
Short edge: turn like a calendar
Make one calibration sheet
- Choose A4 or US Letter in Paper & layout, then the desired card count and flip edge.
- Select Print calibration. This prints numbered front/back cards rather than your study text.
- In the print dialog choose the same paper, portrait orientation and flip edge. Use 100% / actual size; disable browser headers and footers.
- Measure the 50 mm line. A different length means scaling is active.
- Turn the sheet at the chosen edge. Each “Back 1” must sit behind “Front 1”, with matching top arrows.
Printer feed, printable margins and duplex registration vary. Browser preview cannot prove physical alignment. If the two sides shift, adjust the printer settings or test a different feed orientation; do not print the full stack until your own calibration passes. Manual two-pass printing also needs a test because tray order differs.
The last sheet keeps empty slots
Nine cards at eight per side make two physical sheets, four output pages. The last front has C0009 in its first slot; its back belongs in the mirrored slot. Empty slots remain empty. Compacting the last back independently would put the answer behind the wrong cut-out.
Long text must fit before print
The tool measures both sides of every included card in the fixed print dimensions. Text that exceeds its box blocks the print button and the normal browser print shortcut. It is not silently shortened.
Try four or two cards per side, use 12 pt instead of 16 pt, or edit the content into a shorter question and answer. Keep the original in the source record. If a long answer needs its full context, the reading-copy HTML is a better output than forcing it onto a card.
Preview text on a small phone is enlarged for editing; it is not the print-size measurement. Use the paper setting and print-readiness message. Plain Unicode text and right-to-left paragraphs are supported through browser fonts. Images, rendered equations, rich formatting and LaTeX interpretation are not.
Check the final PDF
Save as PDF through the browser print dialog if you need a file. Open it, check the page count, first and last card IDs, long answers and any special symbols. Browser PDF tagging varies; this tool does not certify PDF accessibility. The script-free reading copy provides a sequential alternative.
